SEO Header Plugin
SEO Header plugin allows you to change
the heading of the page without
changing the page title.
This is especially useful if you want to use a short term for the page navigation and a long headline. For example, when using Wordpress as a standard CMS, you may set your home page to “Home” in your wordpress settings. This works out well because in the wordpress page navigation, you have a link to your home page titled “Home”.

The newest version of this plugin changes the header of the navigation title on the actual page. For example, if you change your “Home” page to “Blue Widgets”, while your site navigation will show “Home”. However, if you are on the “Home” page, the navigation will show “Blue Widgets”. This is not a big issue, unless you use a really long page title and it breaks your navigation. I will create a fix for this and release version 1.3 ASAP.
But the problem is, that the word “Home” in your headline (and your headline should be an h1 tag), does not help your SEO nor does it give the reader a great message.
I have used the plugin on this page to change the headline from “SEO Header Plugin” to “A Plugin For SEO Headers”.
For example, all though the name of the home page of my site is “Home”, I have used “SEO Internet Marketing Services Consultant” as my headline with this plugin.
I built this plugin based upon this Wordpress Hack provided by Scott Hendison and Heather Barger. The hack does require an edit to your template files, however this plugin does not.
Usually, I would use another template hack to change my h1 headline on certain pages, but Heather’s and Scott’s method was the best method.
How it works
While editing a post or page, simply change the headline by adding a custom meta description with the term SEO_heading:
I have tested this plugin with Wordpress 2.7.
Download The File
To install the plugin, upload the folder to your plugin directory and activate it. Once it is activated, it is ready to use.

@Khaled, try to download the most recent version from this site. It may be that you downloaded a version where I had an extra “*” as a comment when I added the GPL information for wordpress.org. If your problem is not resolved, let me know and I will take a look at the version you have to correct the problem. Thanks for the heads up.

Thank you for the comment at seoautomatic.com on the core tweaks plugin and the credit you gave on the H1 hack.
We do want to include this in the next release of the core tweaks, so would you mind sending an email when you release the 1.3 version. I see where you are coming from with the issue on the is_home() compared to is_page(). Setting the home page has become a constant for us.
It will probably be another week before I can work on the next release so if you get the next version ready, that would be great. Then after that, if you use a mailing list, please feel free to add the email dzynit@searchcommander.com to notify of any new releases or new plugins you think would be useful in the core tweaks. I’ll gladly keep them updated in the plugin.

I have never heard of this plug in. I’m migrating over to firefox and am just now taking advantage of the great plug ins.
Interesting tool, not necessarily black hat; but some will argue that it is not white hat. nevertheless a very useful tool. I have been collecting the best wordpress plugins to work with the site setup I use using thesis theme and this is going into the list. I have approx’ 25 and can hit page #1 in Google in a very fast time
I am not really sure what you mean about this not being white hat. Controlling your title tag and h1 tag is certainly not a violation of Google’s terms of service.

This is not black SEO hack. Every site can be changed as you wish – title, h1, h2 etc. I don’t see problems here. Thank you Jason !
I installed the plugin, which sounds great, onto my wordpress 2.7.1 blog and received this fatal error message:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected ‘*’ in /home/practih5/public_html/blog/wp-content/plugins/SEO Headers/index.php on line 26
The only file that came in the download after unzipping was index.php. Is that right?

Awesome stuff Jason! Ya know, sometimes I forget to check for plugins that do this kind of stuff when I’m mumbling to myself about wanting such a feature in wordpress. The other day I was working on a site and was griping about how I wanted the title and header to be different, but fool that I was I didn’t bother acting on that and didn’t try to find something to fix it. This plugin looks to completely solve that issue so that I never have to whine about it again. Thanks!

i installed the latest vers.
I usualy use Joomla but I have some blogs and I try use it. It can change a lot SERP of websites.
How does this differ from the All in One SEO plugin? SEO Header looks good and I’ll give it a shot on one of my blogs. Is it compatible with all versions of WP? I’m runing 2.7.
It is best if you could develop a plugin which would put title headlines in H1 tag instead of something in the headers! i think it will be a better option at seo to have page titles within the H1 tag!
what crap is this, i tried activating this plug in, but doesn’t work

check again with your eyes wide open and see both (title and heading) are same “SEO Header Plugin”

This is a very helpful tool for SEO. Not always do you want the page title to match the article title.
This is a great plugin, have been using it for a few weeks now – highly recommended!
Great way to fine tune your h1 tags
Jeannette = Good job with the hyperlink. I’m still a newbie too and I’m always learning something new and saying to myself, “Now why didn’t someone teach me that.” Technocrats create obstacles to every day folks using new technologies but techno-advocates like me (and hopefully you) build bridges of understandability between the average person and new technology!
