10 Twitter Applications For Small Businesses

In this post I have included ten twitter tools useful for small business owners which would help in monitoring the conversations of their target audience  and spying on their competitor’s activity.

TweetBeep: – TweetBeep is Twitter alert service similar to Google Alerts. You can get tweet alerts for keywords you want every hour in your email and keep track of users who are talking about you or your competitor’s products, services and a lot more. Qwitter: – Qwitter is a free service which would send you an email alert when somebody un-follows you and last tweet you made after which the person un-follows you. This service would help you to understand about the nature of tweets which your follower likes or dislikes.

Bit.ly: – One of the popular twitter activities is to share links. Bit.ly is a great url shortening service which would help you to measure the real time performance of your links. You can track the number of clicks your link get in 24 hours, past week and past month, traffic sources – email, twitter or IM , Location from where you are getting traffic and a lot more.

Socialoomph: Earlier known as Tweetlater, Socialoomph would help you to schedule your tweets and publish your tweets as you have planned. The other features of Socialoomph are tracking tweets that contain your keywords, sending automatic DM to new followers, automatically unfollow users who unfollow you etc.

TwitterFeed: – Twitterfeed is another free service which would alert your followers by tweeting about your new blog posts.

CoTweet:- CoTweet is currently in Beta and currently free to use. CoTweet is a great tool to manage your corporate accounts on twitter. You can manage up to six twitter accounts from your single CoTweet account. You can assign tweets to your colleagues for Followups, Monitor your keywords and trends, schedule tweeting, posting updates from multiple account at same time and a lot more all from your single CoTweet account.

SpreadTweet: – SpreadTweet is free application which will help you to tweet from an excel spreadsheet. You can use all twitter features like receiving and sending DMs, search on twitter, viewing your timeline all from an excel spreadsheet and at the top of this you can save you excel sheet for records on your hard disk or access offline.

Twinbox: – If you use Microsoft outlook most of the time then Twinbox is a great tool for you. Twinbox is fully functional twitter client which you can integrate with your Microsoft outlook and is completely free.

Nearby Tweets: – You can monitor the tweets related to your products from people of your location with the help of Nearby Tweets. The tool is right now in Beta Phase so you need to request for private access to use other features of tool like Automatic Follow people within Nearby tweets, set a default search locations etc.

GroupTweet: – GroupTweet is another great service which helps you to send your message only to a group of persons by not making it public. You can use this service to communicate with your clients or for your private customers where you want to send confidential Information

    Bit.ly is a very useful tool. Without it I wouldn’t be able to track where a lot of my traffic come from. I have also checked out Nerby Tweets in the past. I wasn’t impressed because at the time there weren’t that many tweets in my area, but maybe I should check it out again.

    SocialOomph has got to be one of the best on the list as far as an all-in-one but i’ve recently been turned on to tweetspinner which is doing some real interesting follow/unfollow stuff you wouldn’t believe.

    Great blog post, it’s nice to see all the different Twitter applications in one place with a clear description of what each one can do.

    I don’t think small businesses realise that managing their Twitter can be made much more simpler.
